Let’s celebrate! (death anniversary)

On your death anniversary, your #3 bro said,
“Hey, let’s celebrate!”
And so we went. Why not?

After all, your brothers have the strongest faith that you are somewhere up there. So very happy with Jesus.

And your #3 bro. was the one whom had prayed for you each night after your passing. Each night before bedtime, he would say this:
“Dear Jesus, please let Vincent play in your giant playground (Heavenly Kingdom) and give me a new baby brother. Amen.”

10 months after, we indeed have a new baby for us to play with. Matthew never took your place but is an individual on his own.

Today, at 26 months old, he can call your name. He can call each of your brothers and whenever we point up, he will definitely include your name – Binchern which is baby language for Vincent.

If we are lucky, tonight we may find the peddlar selling helium balloons at Gurney Drive. And we will release them, in memory of you.

Oh yes, we celebrate mass this morning and the message we got is to rejoice. And rejoice, we did. Though we do not see you, you are very much part of our lives, Vincent.

John 14:15-21 (New International Version)

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”

*Addition – Yes, we did get the balloons! It is like a ritual that we do on every anniversary and birthday.

  1. you’re an encouragement to all parents out there. Every parent dreads to lose a child, and won’t pretend to know how it feels, cause i don’t.

Hope the meal was great, coz it sure looks so…

  2. The Lord works in mysterious ways, that He does. He takes something away from us because He knows what is best. And then He gives us something else for us to remember how blessed we are.

I love your outlook. It’s inspirational. *smiles*

  3. Blab – Over here it is called Fish & Co. I remember it is Manhattan Fish market in MV, ya? Tks for the encouraging words.

Simon – Praise and glory to the Lord. I attended a Shalom prayer group on Friday and it dawned on me that every anniversary marks the time I embrace Christ. So it is sort of a celebration, indeed. Prawns, mussels and squids grilled and come with butter lemon sauce are great indeed.

  4. Woohhoooo Fish & Co. Seafood platter for two. syoknya…. hohoho Havent have it for months. But it is really a packed meal. Manhattan Fish Market is another different restaurant. I prefer Fish & Co. hohohoho and they are wearing a nice t-shirt with all those fishy wordings. The rice is nice.

  5. I remember the helium balloons. I remember I was so touched by that thought. If I see a helim balloon peddlar tonight here in Subang Jaya, I will release one for Vincent. 🙂 Hope you had fun during your dinner.

  6. Its great that Vincent has brothers to keep his memory fresh and i’m sure he was there at the meal as well. and thank you Lilian for sharing .. you’re an inspiration for all of us mothers who have lost a child.

  7. Romantic – Thank you. But did I read correctly?
“all of us mothers who have lost a child”

Jolene – Thank you! That’s very thoughtful of you. Some of my friends in the USA do this too. In fact, we did things like lighting candles (Catholics do use candles), releasing butterflies (yes, in US they sell butterflies for release, sort of like us releasing pigeons) and said butterflies are more environmental friendly than balloons. Hahaha, they and their environment drive.

Surfnux – Yes, we have to tapau the rice back. The serving is enough for 3 adults.

Eileen – Thank you and God bless!

  8. Wah, look at the food. And that funny look your son is posting. Happy and Hang Fok family, lilian is so lucky. Eh, Penang got fish and Co meh?

  9. As usual.. Lilian.. i applaud you .. but i stop here.. coz’ very sakit hati for me.. to think of it.. sorry hor.. 🙁

  10. Yuen Li – It is tasty but too huge portion.

Mrs T – Laugh with me. I am ok after all.

Romantic – *hugs* So sorry to hear that. Hope to hear from you privately one day, when you are ready to share.

Mr Kiasu – Fish & Co in Gurney Plaza. There is a whole row of food outlets on the ground floor. All the bigger fast food restaurants there plus McD, Domino, Sushi King, all the coffee joints etc.

Hang Fok – yes indeed. Thank you.
