Rainy days are here to stay

It has been raining continuously since yesterday. Cold, wet and very nice to snuggle in bed, under thick blankets with some warm body. Extra nice if you got a cute little three years old to cuddle. Nice…. Today, Monday is a holiday for my atm who follows Kedah’s gazetted holiday. It is the first day of bulan Ramadhan (Sunday replace). Yesterday night, we went to have bak kut teh and suddenly, huge, huge rain came down with big, big wind blowing, making us all wet, wet. Also very nice. Hehehe, this is the result of too much rain. My brain also turn into mud already.

It is going to rain for a while now because officially, this is the kew ong yeah’s month or the month where Chinese Taoists go on vegetarian diet. It always rain. But this year, the nine brothers’ arrival has been delayed by the hungry ghosts who spent two months holiday on earth.

Now, what kind of feelings does rain conjure up? So many songs are about rain. So many movies feature rain. Name one song with rain that you like.

Here’s one from me:

It’s raining, it’s pouring
my love life is boring me to tears,
after all these years

No sunshine, no moonlight,
no stardust, no sign of romance
we don’t stand a chance

I’ve always dreamed I found the perfect lover
but he turned out to be like every other man

(full lyrics here)

Wuah, last time this song very pahwer one. Like that other song, “I will survive”. That’s where we girls learnt to kick out good-for-nothings boys from our lives. If they get boring, throw it out, just like a boring story book. Don’t torture ourselves by trying to finish a boring story book. Throw away and buy a new one.

But wait, if you are married to the man/woman already, then, don’t let these sort of songs messed up your mind. Don’t be like some married people who bitched, “You know, I never really love my spouse.” Then, keh-si, keh-si find jalan to cheat on them. Damn, they are married and have kids and yet, they got the cheeks to tell the world that they never love the spouse. Why lah, go and marry, have sex, have kids baru come to this realisation? Tiu, if the spouse kena hit by a bus, then baru they rot in guilt.
Ok, I digress too much. Back to the question, name one song or movie with rain. ‘Cos this blardy rain is getting too sienz already.

  1. i’d retire in bed more often since the weather are getting much more pleasant as well. also, a little tired from puasa makes me sleepy and the bed seems cozy during cold and chillin hours =)

one song to do with rain? duhh!

Rain – It’s Raining!! =D it was on Friday earlier this year when it rains heavily and I just woke up from noon nap and watch MTV and there he was, Rain singing It’s Raining! haha

  2. oooooohhh…cryptic post…i like!!

i guess ppl now are so obsessed with the idea of ‘passionate love’ and ‘great sex’ forevah and nevah until both partners are 95y.o. When the ‘feel’ fizzle out a bit and both refuse to accept that marriage is an evolution, it’s time to “buy a new book” lor. So easy only mah.

This is the only rain song i know…RAIN by MADONNA

Rain is what the thunder brings
For the first time I can hear my heart sing
Call me a fool but I know I’m not
I’m gonna stand out here on the mountain top
    Till I feel your…

Rain, I feel it, it’s coming
Your love’s coming down like (rain)

  3. Sooi2 – Psst…that one hor, suddenly pop out of my mind wan. Writing half way, I sardenli feel like adding in a bit of spices. Hehehe.

Azhan – I just remember another song. Sudirman song ‘Hujan’ Woo, I love that song. Hujan yang turun bagaikan mutiara….

  4. i love that sudirman song too! by the time i’m replying this, hujan turun lagi!

    hujan yang turun bagaikan mutiara
    bersinar berkilau berkelipan
la la la la la la

    tak ingat ade =P

    or the other type for little children;
rain rain go away come again another day little children want to play rain rain go away~
i’m off to bed because its just sooo nice to do so!

  5. *starts singing horribly and off key*

It’s raining men, hallelujah it’s raining men!

*LOL* Sadly that’s the only decent rain song I know. the other one is “rain rain go away, come again another day…” *LOL*

Is it possible to fall out of love? I mean, some couple fall in love, very very sure then sign marriage and then they fall out of love. What to do then leh? Yalah, the ‘proper’ way is to talk to each other, if talk to each other like cats and dogs then talk to marriage counsellor, and if that doesn’t work out too – how? Divorce! Fuyoh… life is so damn complicated one. Why can’t the brain just get stuck at “in love” mode and stay there? 🙂 OK I’m rambling… stopping now.

  6. Was just listening to this song ‘Bring the Rain’ by Mercy Me before reading this post. Christian song…very nice esp the chorus :

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there’ll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that’s what it takes to praise You
    Jesus, bring the rain

    hope u like it.chiaoz

  7. Lucky you Aunty, or rather, Lucky Penang, as for us here in Kch, the weather has been rather hot since the start of Ramadhan, pity the Muslims, heat and fasting again……major penance for them I guess. Heck!! There’s even haze in the horizon already.

Song and Movie, well, there’s nothing more classic than Gene Kelly as Don Lockwood, Tap Dancing away and singing “Singin in the Rain” the title song of the Movie…

  8. Wah! People puasa, u go and eat pork! Got wet kah? Were u wearing a thin t-shirt??? Mmm…!!! Ur song…Barbra Streisand and Donna Summers’ No more tears (Enough is enough). Gosh!!! U so old kah! Well, someone already mentioned “It’s raining men!” There’s Supertramp’s It’s raining again, Leapy Lee’s Here comes the rain, Love Unlimited’s Walking in the rain with the one I love, Jose Feliciano’s Rain, Bobby Vinton’s Rain, rain, go away, Barbara Striesand’s Don’t rain on my parade, Kiss the rain by some lady with a male voice (can’t remember the name) etc etc etc….

  9. STP: Aunty said name ONE Song! Suddenly we see a hole list coming out! U dont have to name soo many, aiyo!! Have to brag to the world of your wonderful knowledge of songs and the exhaustive repartoire of it kah? Now..who is suffering from ADD here

QV – Dun marah STP lah, he really knows a LOT la, so must show off a bit. 😛

STP – I almost same age with you, if you call me old, you lagi old. Hehehe. It’s raining men memang very the best. Especially sung by the fat lady.

QV – It rains and rains, even today.

    shooi – Buy a dryer!

jacy – Tks for the title, I go look it up.

wingz – You same taste with ahpek

luxeferi – Then, there is the Barney’s song too. Hehehe, in a marriage must work it la, cannot simply trhow in the towel and cabut. Like today’s paper, the 3 kids calling for the mom who ran away to come back.

azhan – I think they don’t teach pantun like, Oh hujan oh hujan, mengapa engkau turun?

  12. True True Aunty…and besides..kan he plans to join next year One in a Million contest, so he has to practise and know his songs loh… 😛
