From Xinhua :
AKARTA, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) — An [tag]earthquake[/tag] measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck Indonesia’s North Sumatra province Friday, but there is no immediate report of injuries or damage so far.
The tremor hit at 10:58 local time (0358 GMT) and was centered in the town of Tebing Tinggi, some 70 km east of the provincial capital of [tag]Medan[/tag], said Hardiyatno, a national earthquake analysis staff with the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency.
What? What? Where? When? Hope everything is fine.
terence – Here in my place in Air Itam area. Lucky it is over within seconds.
OMG! did you run out naked from your bathroom again?
Last time the earth shook when I was a bit under the weather! It lasted for the whole night 🙂
Hey Lilian, dun celebrate Xmas/ NY too quickly!
DAvid – You think I am joking? How much you want to bet that there was an earthquake in the surrounding areas? If you have been through the last Boxing Day quake, where we had to run down to the ground floor for safety, I bet you won’t find this funny anymore.
Gosh! Hope everything is fine and nothing major.
By looking at the map, the earthquake is nearing to me. I am in Melaka, sitting on reclaimed land. *shivers*
terence – 6.3 is no joke wei. Especially so near us. I was sitting on the floor this time so I didn’t feel it so bad. If I was on my PC chair, sure I cabut liao, without writing this post. My report realtime wei. Better than the news or the earthquake report. LOL.
I did go out of my house and call out a few neighbours to confirm. Even the janitor who is sweeping the corridors told us she felt ‘pening’.
Ya no joke….I experienced it at Yokohama while on holiday two years ago. Luckily it lasted only a few seconds. That time I can felt the bed moved and the table too. Very scary.
Hope what you are experience is just seconds of shaking only and nothing major.
yeaps.just experienced a tremor with other collegues too at 4th flr at shah alam.
I did not feel anything again, damn it!
Bryan – Cos your butt is not jiggly so you can’t feel the shake-shake. LOL.
sOrcy – It’s over real fast, lucky. But quite strong.
TehSee – The worst I had was the door creaking, fan moving and water splashing out of fish tank. But when you have small kids around, the worries is magnified. Otherwise, it is quite fun. LOL.
AhPek – Dun dream!
how come you in penang, I in penang,…but always you felt it and i have not felt it. I must be really blur or simply the part of penang that I am in- no tremors??
WMD – Cos I said my butt very jiggly mah, got a little shake sure know. Hahaha, no lah, ‘cos some people are more sensitive to movement than others. And I am more paranoid than most after that last tsunami incident and the other quake that follows. But I tell you, I wouldn’t want to buy a 35th floor penthouse that is built on a hillslope or those reclaimed land along Gurney. Scary man. Did you see those new houses by the beach where the last tsunami strucked? In Tanjung Tokong? Each time, I passed by, I still remember the sight after the tsunami strucked. Ya, I went there to inspect/kepoh/blog reporting last time.
Luckily i went back to my parents hse last nite. Phew!! Otherwise sure go seow lari lintang pukang. Hehehe. Go back later and kepo with my neighbour see she feel it or not. Mine is at Greenlane. Lilian, I agree with you – won’t buy hse tat is so high.
Dear Lilian,
Looks like the Big Guy up there is trying to tell us something! See, He is also quite pissed with the ongoings around us. I am now concerned as I was also keeping track of such earth movements since the last biggie. Now, the tremors are happening EASTWARDS of Medan which is very near to us in Klang. The fault belt is usually WEST of Medan. I am begining to know why the sea cucumbers are all crawling towards our West coasts!
Regards,
Donald
Wo!..Thank God everybody is safe… my friend once said ( she has 4 kids ) – ” I dont want any more children, afraid not enough hands to hold in case Tsunami” – although ‘sounds’ funny – but it sort of makes me think also… ( d negative side of me )
dun pray pray.
