The results from DAP is available here.
The below mentioned are obtained from Malaysiakini and is NOT confirmed by the EC yet.

Updated from Malaysiakini at 8.57 pm:
Confirmed: Opposition takes Penang - 8.52pm
Unofficially, the opposition will form the state government in Penang for second time in history. The DAP-PKR-PAS combination has collectively won at least 21 seats out of the 40 seats.
I am so happy so I have to put this post.
You can find the latest Malaysian election result from Malaysiakini. Penangites! We are the winners!
I am going out to the main counting centre to celebrate with the others. But here is what is reported by Malaysiakini :
DAP closer to taking Penang - 8.05pm
Having unofficially won 17 of the 40 state seats in Penang, DAP is currently leading in six other seats with a wide margin. The party needs to pick up another four seats to take over government in the island state.
Blogger Jeff Ooi is winning too! He came, he conquered and he is going to Parliament. Bloggers Boleh!
Blogger Jeff Ooi has big lead in Jelutong - 8.05pm
DAP’s Jeff Ooi is leading in the Jelutong parliamentary seat and the party is also leading in all three state seats in Jelutong - Datuk Keramat, Sungai Pinang and Batu Lanchang.
Penangites, this is our winning! We won!
OK, OK, actually I am quite relieved that my past few days post about DAP and PKR bear fruit. If not, I pun tak tau mana mau lari ‘cos I dissed and ranted so much.
PENANG WINS! WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!
Note : I watch the news on TV1 and all I saw are results from Sarawak that BN is leading all the way. And though they interviewed some EC officer here and he said he got 50% of the confirmed results, there is not a word on the results reflected by Malaysiakini. If we watch the TV, we will be in the dark.

8:36 pm on March 8th, 2008 8
I am not following the results thru TV. Don’t trust them anymore on politics. It’s Malaysiakini!
8:38 pm on March 8th, 2008 9
Just wondering, what does “unconfirmed” at the malaysiankini.com website mean? Projected? Can it be overturned?

Haha I could hear hubby fighting over the remote with the kids. Will let him know nothing over there, just updated him with news about Kuching and jeffooi. So excited to hear about Penang and I imagine my parents are treating free meals to everyone in Kelantan.
8:41 pm on March 8th, 2008 13
Dan - First they count at the polling station. Then, they bring back to the center where they added up all the different schools results. This is the unconfirmed ones because there are DAP/PKR/PAS people along with the EC officers. Then, after that, they will bring the ballot boxes to the state level where it is announced. So, unless the EC can bring in some postal votes to upset, then, the result is what we get now. That means, there are three levels.
8:43 pm on March 8th, 2008 14
mama23beas - Yeah, Kelantan is so strong. I was so happy for them too.
ks - They majority will decide and in Penang,if the majority is DAP, then, they will pick from DAP. But one thing is sure. Koh Tsu Koon sudah lost his minister seat as well.
8:46 pm on March 8th, 2008 15
If I understand correctly, the postal votes will only be added in later? Is this true, aunty Lilian?
8:47 pm on March 8th, 2008 16
Power to the people!
I pray that no postal votes will come spoil the people’s choice!
8:49 pm on March 8th, 2008 17

8:51 pm on March 8th, 2008 20
If D(R)AP is really taking over Penang, they better not boycott SK schools and let the money go to only Chinese schools.

8:54 pm on March 8th, 2008 22

Carmen: As opposed to almost NONE, pittance, of the money going to Chinese, Tamil or mission schools over the last 50 years, as a percentage going to national schools?
I didn’t come from a vernacular school, but there should be some fairness if that’s what the citizens want. It’s not like other schools will be ignored - there will be hue and outcry. And it’s obvious Chinese have proven to be outstanding in education, if a little too much emphasis on rote learning and not enough English. Mission schools have always been renowned.
Whatever it is, all pointers are that it’s doing to be more fair than what BN would do.
8:58 pm on March 8th, 2008 29

9:29 pm on March 8th, 2008 41
Even though I am no longer a Malaysian, I have been staying up the whole nite watching this unfolding in Malaysia from Canada. I was with the Reformasi movement in the late 1990s and an beginning to see the fruits of all the years of struggle. I hope this will lead to a huge shakeup in the BN government and put the fear of the PEOPLE in them. May Malaysia comes out stronger than ever before.
9:32 pm on March 8th, 2008 42
NTV7 is doing a hack propaganda job as well. The woman host actually asks some good questions, touching on Bersih rally, VK Lingam, EC transparency. But the “analyst” answering the question is obviously biased! He says he did a survey amongst 2,000 people, and only 30% think the EC is not transparent. Yeah, probably 2,000 civil servants, who are too afraid to say otherwise.
9:32 pm on March 8th, 2008 43
i cant believe the rubbish on tv3 now.. omg..when are they going to get to the best part…
Thank god for Malaysia Kini!
9:33 pm on March 8th, 2008 44
I know there are lots of Penangnites who are happy with the unexpected and surprising results. But let us not forget the fact of the postal voters, or what people call the phantom voters who from what I heard, has been prepared in case the votes swings in Penang, which according to Malaysiakini has.
And yes, there is nothing on the TV about Penang. All about BN’s wins in Sabah and Sarawak, with just a confirmed update on DAP’s win in Kuching.
9:34 pm on March 8th, 2008 45
Thanks Lilian, hubby was waiting in front of TV3 waiting for news as he heard Penang won by the opposition but no news wor. So i thought of u and now hubby is reading at Malaysiakini. Happy for Penang too!
Congrats Penangites!
Now waiting for the rest…

True, in Sarawak, only confirmed in Bandar Kuching. Latest news is Sarikei DAP also lost by mere 51 votes. All because of 3 independants of whom 2 were ex-DAP members. Ding Kwong Hiing (BN) 10588, Wong Hua Seh (DAP) 10537, 3 (IND) total of 766. Moral lesson: Be united.
9:54 pm on March 8th, 2008 52
it is official :t TTwangsa lost to Dr Lo Lo PAS, a new comer . All along the TTwangsa a Strong BN stronghold.

Hats off to all Malaysians for votting for this change.
Thank you Lord for hearing the voices of your people..
We pray that the new Penang government will lead the way to show the arrogant BN government how the state should be governed, and what is the meaning of accountability. We pray the DAP/PKR/PAS government will always listen to the people and govern with dignity and responsibility.

Oh crap. Now I’m worries the North states seems to be dominated by PAS. Hope they are moderate and can unite Malaysia and not force Islam down everyone’s throats.
11:10 pm on March 8th, 2008 75
Confirmed results are coming in slowly over the news and it seems most likely BN would lose Penang. Koh Tsu Koon would be giving a press conference soon, which should also mean that Penang is probably lost. Who’s the next CM then? That’s the big question.
On other unconfirmed news, Kedah has fallen to opposition.
11:11 pm on March 8th, 2008 76
NTV7 is good lah. Really pertinent issues. And the pro-BN Dr. Rizal from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia is being slapped left and right by Honey. Go Honey, go Honey, go Honey!

Dan: If Barisan Nasional DID (TOUCHWOOD) fall to the hands of opposition in its entirety, then Islam would definitely be forced upon everyone.
But you can’t force the willing, can you?
After all, “the boss” made the decision.
11:36 pm on March 8th, 2008 87
Hello Pro-BN Carmen: Don’t worry, your BN will not lose the simple majority. As it is, BN is forcing Islam down everyone’s throats with the declaration that Malaysia is a Islamic state vs. a secular state as guaranteed by the Constittuion. Also, there is rampant, unnecessary Islamization of national schools, body-snatchings, overzealous raids by Jawi perverts.
11:37 pm on March 8th, 2008 88
Damm it, malaysiakini website had been blocked.(Not sure it is “them” anot.)

It’s the extremists that I have an issue with.
11:45 pm on March 8th, 2008 90
Carmen: Then we agree. I never said I have a problem with Islam, it is a noble religion that teaches tolerance and we have existed in harmony for many decades now. Until the BN tried to out-Islam PAS to stoke up religious paranoia. There are Muslim extremists in both UMNO and PAS. So, what’s your beef, exactly, “boss”? You’re the only one here who seems to be sour-faced. UMNO cybertrooper?

Khairy won by about 5k seats. Chegu Bard garnered 20k seats but could not beat Khairy. Hishamuddin won by 11k. Kayveas is out. Selangor state BN take a huge beating. New faces to see in our Parliament include Sivarasa (Subang), Gobind Singh (Puchong) and the return of Wee Choo Keong (Wangsa Maju). FT BN lost badly except for Zulhasnan (Setiawangsa) and Tengku Adnan (Putrajaya). DAP won 11 state seats in Selangor as of now and 8 in Negeri Sembilan.

Congratulations to Yang Berhormat Lim Guan Eng - new CM of Penang. DAP will form state govt with PKR and hopes that PAS will help.
PAS and PKR won 40 out of 45 state seats in Kelantan. Last elections, it was just 23.
Everyone is waiting for outcome of Perak’s state seats results.
BN has not yet won simple majority as yet.
1:08 am on March 9th, 2008 129
Opposition will take Perak if current trend continues. This result, I daresay, is the worse defeat BN has suffered. Even worse than 1969.
1:08 am on March 9th, 2008 130
Where to see the results of Perak?
M’kini not stated too.

13 seats remain unannounced.
1:25 am on March 9th, 2008 141
Bryan: Gary is just a little bit excited that’s all. Most of us are (are there any BN supporters here?). But we must all remember to celebrate in a civil manner and not call other people names. The people showed their power and now, it’s time for the people to show dignity and graciousness in victory.
1:27 am on March 9th, 2008 142
Bryan - You take over lah. Handsome old man like me wanna sleep liao. Itu celaka Ah Lian, went to the dunno where and kepoh. Niamah!

the opposition is leading in 28 of the 59 Perak State Seats. They need to mantain it and win 2 more seats to form government. (Assuming PAS and DAP cooperate)
1:32 am on March 9th, 2008 145
Yea Pablo, I am too happy to see the results and hope we don’t over-celebrate in any manner.

1:38 am on March 9th, 2008 151
I seldom pray. But I did this afternoon. Praying that there will be a change in Penang and national politics so that there will be a future for my 5 months baby. The prayer has been granted.
It’s now time for the DAP/PKR/PAS pact to deliver.
1:39 am on March 9th, 2008 152

1:44 am on March 9th, 2008 156
BN retains Terengannu by a razor thin margin - 17-15 seats. Dang. Maybe PAS can get someone to cross the floor.
1:45 am on March 9th, 2008 157
It is past 1.30am. Just read opposition took 4 states, penang, kedah, kelantan and selangor. Perak maybe on the way too.
Congrats to DAP, PKR and PAS! Please work to confirm people’s confidence in you. Cooperate with each other. Dont impose, dont assume. Take care of the minorities. Election is like marriage..courting for 5 years and you get consent on election day. No short cut as BN are finding out the hardway.
BN are like a wounded animal, they will come back with a vengeance. Your(opposition) only safeguard is to work with the masses.
All the best!
1:48 am on March 9th, 2008 158
Rafidah won by small majority (less than 3k, I think).
It is now 112 BN and 50 non-Bn at Parliament. Simple majority achieved by BN to form Govt of Malaysia. Now, to see whether non-BN can get another 25 seats to prevent 2/3 majority.
1:48 am on March 9th, 2008 159
Perak:
1 out of 13 annouced; Tajol Rosli wins the sit, opposite lost 1 seat.

Opposition claims victory in Perak - 1.30am
The state is still too close to call. However, the opposition claimed that it has won a simple majority in the state. According to PKR state chief Dr Lee Boon Chye, the opposition was victorious 30 out of 59 seats (DAP - 18, PKR - 6, PAS - 6).
But the state Election Commission appears to have suffered a computer glitch, which has delayed the announcement of the results.

Ayam bek! I went to witness history in the making.
Thanks for all the comments and sorry I have to delete some of your comments because we shouldn’t diss the ‘opposition’ (the BN) for their losses. Hope you all understand as I am accountable for my blog.
Victor - Wow, does this mean….LKS will be CM?
3:08 am on March 9th, 2008 173
Is there any latest news now?
3:11 am on March 9th, 2008 174
Lilian, the blog is as strong as DAP tonight! Haha…
3:12 am on March 9th, 2008 175
Lilian, next time send some “wu liau” candidates to Sarawak.
3:12 am on March 9th, 2008 176
Lilian: I am not sure what arrangement will be reached, but I am sure DAP will have CM ship in Perak. At this rate, DAP will be able to form government on its own. How to appease the Malay majority state however, will be another problem. Perhaps a deputy CM for PKR/PAS or perhaps a Malay DAP CM?
Too bad LKS didnt stand in a state seat. He can’t be CM
3:13 am on March 9th, 2008 177

Any idea what’s happening in Selangor and Perak? Not surprising, they are taking a long time to declare non-BN wins … Malaysiakini is reporting unconfirmed results in Selangor and Perak …. but i’m dieing to find out what the real results are / how the BR is doing !!!
3:21 am on March 9th, 2008 183

new governments in Penang, Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Perak… and almost Trengganu..
The BR (DAP/PKR/PAS) has now this God given opportunity to make a difference for Malaysia. We hope and pray they focus and succeed in their new governance role, and remain committed and accountable to the people of Malaysia who have given them this overwhelming trust. Thank you God/Allah for your blessings on our country.

Alphonso Tan: Who is in Pantai Remis?
3:26 am on March 9th, 2008 189
WTF. I’m watching Badawi & Najib now, and they’re playing Kenny G for their press conference. I like Kenny G, but that’s what we use to play during *my* years in school (a looong time ago). Get with the times and stop being corny, man! Some soothing New Age or classical music would have been less corny. He didn’t even seem to say anything. Just raised his arms with Najib then walked out. Pity the reporters who set up all those mics.
