This Malaysian Budget 2009 presented by Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi seems to be a sweetener for those in Sarawak and Sabah. Eligibility criteria for welfare assistance under the Welfare Department, increased from a monthly household income of RM400 to RM720 for Peninsular Malaysia, RM830 for Sarawak and RM960 for Sabah.
The increase on the current tax rebate of RM350 per person to RM400 for those with taxable income of RM35,000 and below is so negligible. Might as well not give. RM50 might only buy you 3 whole chicken from the market.
And then hor, even before the broadband allowance in Budget 2008 is implemented properly, here comes the new announcement that mobile phones, as well as telephone and internet bills paid by the employer are tax exempt for employees.
(hehehe, helping out with SEO).

It’s a torture because of LahLah speaking. He’s never been an exciting person to listen to anyway. Rather monotone. Anwar or Kit would be far more animated

What’s the big fuss with free air travel every 2 years for government servants from Sabah / Sarawak? It would be better to increase their measly salaries so that they can fight the inflation (caused by the government in the first place) every month.
How much is a chicken leg (thigh and drumstick) now ah? Market here selling RM3.00 to RM4.00!
And that is the “white” chicken. Lagi expensive if the yellow skinned one…

Abdullah is so feeble with his voice. My mom said listening to budget radio broadcast was an unnecessary noise lol..
No need to pay electricity bill for usage below RM 20? The government ought to be kidding. Which household doesn’t incur usage below RM 20? Period. How they determine? Statistics ma. Bell shaped graph. Who don’t know?

“For medium cost houses of up to RM250,000, a 50% stamp duty exemption is extended to the loan agreement on top of the 50% stamp duty exemption on the instrument of transfer.”
This one hor, doesn’t really assist many borrowers. As it is right now, most banks absorb the legal fees and disbursements (including stamp duties) to entice prospective borrowers to their loans. So, the biggest winner are our banks!

I don’t really cook. My electricity bill is about RM25 per month. I don’t smoke. I’m not from East Msia…..
So far, I don’t see this Budget benefit me at all.

Without a doubt, in the absence of C.A.T. (Competency, Accountability and Transparency)
this is the most caring budget he has come up by him…….. for his croonies and son in law.
So much capital expenditure, who gets the contract, how much? and how much will the government eventually have to bail out?
So much perks for the civil servant, yet, due to the non competitive nature of our goods in comparison to neighbouring countries, a lot of Malaysians aren’t seeing bnus at all, just a simple red packet which is hardly enough to buy a packet of rice and a tin of milk powder; yet the over staffed civil servant continues to benefit from their non-productive work and coffee time.
Poor soul, you will be kick out from office soon.

Bryan – Yalor, it is a looks caring but do nothing budget.
anarchy – Yeah, that’s my feelings too. So much allocation to improve transport and I wonder who gets the cake?
hcfoo – My household got no income now but our electricity bill is RM200+ per month leh. Wonder can apply welfare. Hehehe.
pablo – Earlier before the budget there were three chaps talking about VSS. My loukong has to pay a five digit income tax for his VSS compensation. Actually, the Gov should have some prihatin and give some tax exempt ‘cos more factories will close down and these people will need to pay tax somemore.
choonie – Biasa ler, they jaga the East Malaysians now or else the katak lompat.
Tan Silly – Better from Sabah to Penang, to eat char koay teow mah.
