In one's life time, how many people can actually say they went thru 3 recessions(in Malaysia)? Usually, they will a taste of recession once and maybe twice but three times, we must be really a lucky lot! Malaysia Boleh Lah!
Those were the days when you have to work 15 hours a day, work when your clients office is close, sleep for a couple of hours and repeat it all over again for 3 months. Sometimes it makes me wonder how in the world did I get thru that? Well, those days also we don't need to control our "makan" habit, eat all you can and still maintain "handsome" figure one...ha,ha,ha!
But I would thought after going thru 2 recessions, nothing will top the last recession(currency crisis 97) but how wrong, this is the mother of all recessions. Previously, most economics professor or "think tank" say this is short term and is a "U" shape recession but lately, signs are pointing towards a "L" shape one, now I am really sweating! So for those who have saved for rainy days, good for you but those who did not(like me, single income family).....got to think outside the box now and find "alternatives".

"Hubby and I were not married and we didn’t have kids nor housing loans. I took the bus and we rented an apartment that costs only RM180 per month per apartment which we sub-let. We allocated only RM2 per meal. Instead of staying in Penang, we stayed in Seberang Jaya because cost of living was much lower."

WOW. Sounds like the life of those starting their working life, like when I did. Ah the days of packed lunch, kee kee. Walking about an hour to work in London to save on Tube fare, and keep fit. ;)

Anyway hope to read more about Penang since you've graduated from your citizen journalism course. Something like the lives of ordinary rakyats in Penang... ;) And of course, secret yummy makan places...MUAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHA
