Here is the video of the Penang Kuan Yin Pavillion I shot yesterday. I didn’t stay through but left early for church.
It was a huge occasion and there were lots of monks that come from different countries and hence, look different too. CM Lim Guan Eng and YB Lim Kit Siang were there. So, were Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon. Then, the Deputy Housing Minister came in his serious, cannot smile, black black face. Most of us reporters do not know who he is and we asked each other if he is some Gerakan chap. It was only when I went back and saw his name on the banner that I know who he is. That’s the thing lah, the whole ceremony was mostly in Mandarin and the program also in Mandarin.
So, poor me was like cracking my head to listen and understand what is going to happen next. I only can understand words like balloon, bird, ribbons and had to wonder where those ballons are to be released, those birds from where and etc.
Haih…if only Buddhism is not so ‘Mandarin’, I would probably understand the faith I was born in. My birth cert still say I am a Buddhist while my IC said I have no religion (cos they claimed Catholic Christian is not a religion). Yet, I don’t know much about Buddhism simply because my parents never learn much about it and I couldn’t get my hands on good books on Buddhism.

Don’t blame your parents simply because you don’t know much about Buddhism. Why don’t you do something about it? Why don’t you go to MBA or PBA? They have good books on Buddhism in english.
Easier to point finger at other isn’t?
Jay – Oooo…that’s what you learn lah? Go around and condemn?
Nothing to learn lah. He was just a guy looking for “the way, the truth and the life”…..unfortunately, he did it the wrong way and indirectly commited suicide (because he fasted or something like that but the point is, he died of suicide). I wouldn’t take up Jay’s offer on that MBA or PBA stuff if I were you….No offence to Jay 🙂
Have a blessed christmas
linda – LOL, you are notti! Funny how you see it. I think he died becos he was too kind to turn down an old man’s offering of foods which was poisonous. That’s what Tawarikh taught me when I was 10 yrs old. The old man was an ironmonger and the foods contain rust or something. Cikgu told me one. No offence to all who believed. 😛
Oooh sorry, what is notti? Is that a negative word proclaimed upon me? Just so curious about the meaning …..smile
So now I hear a 3rd version….very interesting. It’s been said many monks for generations memorized Buddha’s words accurately (until it was transcribed) but he did say it wasn’t the food (actually I heard it’s pork or pork on mushroom – really!!, it’s in Buddhism Today reading). Apparently he already had some underlying sickness blah blah blah
Ah , that suicide thingy, aiyah, there’s this medium became Christian, he told us lah. Maybe in his trance, he saw huh. Whatever. Maybe he needs deliverance from a lying spirit. Grrr…
Okay, very difficult to dissect your heart Lilian, so any offense, Im sorry. Don’t want to argue on this Buddha thinglah, rather spend
my time on my wonderful Saviour Jesus. peace and Blessed Christmas.
linda – I mean naughty lah, but notti sounds cuter so that others cannot get angry lor. You know lah, ppl very touchy touchy. Blessed Christmas to you.
Hey Lilian, I think I read somewhere you just did lasik and already blogging!! You are greatlah…..Hmmm, I thought I was the only one who couldn’t “see” the food I was eating. Terrible thing isn’t it? Gonna look out for your details on the lasik thingy….MERRY CHRISTMAS again – and HAPPY NEW YEAR – just in case i don’t come back till next hols. Whn school starts, things get crazily busy you know…
