Got this from Simon for some years already and I was cleaning out my PC yesterday night and found this.

They call it the Jewish peppers because they are circumcised.

I took a lot of photos yesterday. I brought along two cameras. I also brought the zoom lens and micro lens for my DSLR. So, I get to snap things from far and things close-up.

bird

Bird on a tree branch far, far away.

berries

Wild berries (inedible) in some bushes.

Some father and son moment. We went to the canopy walk in Penang Hill. It is a 2KM walk from the cable car station. A nice walk really.

DSC_0082

Nice views of pine trees, cool breeze and fresh air. Penang Hill is no longer cold but it is quite ok with temperature around 24 degree celcius. But that’s because yesterday was a cloudy day and there was a brief spell of drizzle.

canopy walk, penang hill

The canopy walk in Penang is very nice. You should try it. It is not as stable as the one in Sungai Sedim. The Penang Hill canopy walk is a little bit like the one I tried in Taman Negara many years ago. It is basically made of plank and net so it gives you that Indiana Jones feelings because you can feel the walkway swaying on top of the trees. You feel like it is going to snap and give way any minute. That’s why it is so fun. At some parts, you can hear it creaking as well. But compared to the one in Langkawi, it is not as scary. Probably, Langkawi canopy walk is much higher and colder so it feels much more spooky.

Another father and son moment.

This video brings a tear or two to me. And I think it is something worth keeping in our hearts. I am sure everyone knows Lydia Shum and needs no introduction. She has been around for as long as I remember. She commands the kind of respect that not many entertainers can achieve. Her laughter is infectious. She is that loving, fat mama who is always smiling. She is not here anymore but I am sure she will be a legend and lives in everyone’s memory.

RIP, Fei Jeh.

“Darling…tomorrow morning when you wake up, mommy not around already. You can miss mommy or notttttt.”

And the poor kid has tears discreetly flowing out of his eyes! He pretended nothing is happening but the pillow has tear stains. He still acts brave and assured me, “I can phone you mah…haiyor….you think I cannot meh?”

Awwww….

DSCN9471

That’s what emak yang memang suey (an atrocious mom) did to her poor kid. Emotional blackmail…Now, he suka-suka…”miss you…see you later…”

Wei….we have never been separated since he was born, wokay? Feb 28th he will be five years old. 5 x 365 days. That’s about one thousand eight hundred eleven nights we have been attached together, wokay?

So, to make things easy for him, tomorrow I am going to escape from my concentration camp by Martin Jalleh for a couple of hours to meet him at the beach.

You say chialat or not? I act like I am taking a year long trip away from the kid.

Only one night, dey. And I better go absorb whatever I am suppose to learn or else….

Damn! I cannot believe I wrote such mushy craps so many years ago! I myself can puke reading it.

5xmom_feb2006

February 14th 2006

On Valentine’s Day in 2006, almost all the bloggers I know wrote some or do something for this special day.

5xmom_2007feb

February 14th 2007 I did a podcast on Valentine’s Day 2007 but I have lost my files, I think. So, I am linking to one of the better post on shits.

So, that was three long years of chanlilian.net.

In 2005, drliew.net got me into buying my own domain. I hosted with PaulTan on a smallish blog and now, Paul is a big name in Malaysia already. I don’t fren-fren with drliew anymore because he hates people monetize blogs and I hate him hating people monetize blogs. Oh well…

In 2006, the blogging scene was at its peak where there were much more interactions between bloggers. You can sense the community feel there in my post.

By 2007, I have more or less settled down and prefer to live in my own world with a smaller circle of readers.

And now, 2008, I realised that blogging is just a big farce. If not for the few faithful friends and the money, I think I would have dropped blogging. I mean, what’s the point of blogging huh? Really….don’t you get tired of writing almost the same thing and hearing the same comments?

Now, I am not saying your comments are boring. But seriously, don’t you feel sick reading almost the same topics from every blogs?

Frankly, tell me? Don’t you get sick of blogs yet? And no, please don’t wish me happy anniversary yet. And what are you doing for Valentine’s Day lah? OI, WHERE IS MY VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT?

*sobs* This time next week, I am going to be in prison. Well, sort of. I signed up for a weekend brainwashing lector formation by Martin Jalleh. It will be the first time in decades that I actually go anywhere alone, spend a night without my hubby and kids. DECADES!

Though I always imagine going off to Hawaii or one of those hedonism resorts (nudist camp lah) with a few girlfriends and bring some Spanish toyboys along, now I think it is not so fun already. Oh well, we wrote a lot of paid posts on Hawaii and exotic resorts so when we ran out of things to crap, we normally bluff our ways through by imagination. Gee, I miss LL.

I am like at the bottom rung of the ladder when it comes to lectoring so I forced myself to sign up, pay RM100, close my eyes and hope to go through two days of intense brainwashing motivating course. Not only that, I will be without my laptop and sleeping with three other strangers. I opted for quadruple room instead of twin ‘cos I guess the three of them can chat together while I quietly escape and surf with my Sony Ericsson P1i smartphone with unlimited Celcom broadband.

Serious shit! I have never slept with strangers in the same room before! I normally get a single room when I was on working trip.

Talking about lectoring….In case you do not know what is lectoring, it is reading the Bible during our mass. It is one freaky experience, always. That’s why I like it. The adrenalin pumping till it oozes out of my skin. And when I didn’t screw up my diction, pronunciation and etc etc bla bla bla, I know there is Jesus giving me that big dose of help.

This morning, I have the 7 am mass duty. Yesterday evening, I was also in church because I have the overhead projector duty. So, thank God, I knew since last evening that the lectern’s microphone is rosak (something wrong) and the lector will need to read from the altar where the priest stands. *sweats* I spend the night syncing myself not to freak out.

Thank God I also notice since yesterday evening that the second reading is not what I have practised. Otherwise, this morning, I sure pee in my pants if I have to go to the huge altar, use a different mic and read something that I have never seen or practice before. Anyway, I took the easy way out and asked Father Fabian before the mass if I have to read the long version. He said it is up to me. Phew….

Anyway….these vegetarian diet consisting of lots of vegetables have got me running to the loo several times a day. It is not a real toilet-run but rather too much fibre and my body is doing its own detox, I guess. I am so comfy with it now. Last night, while I was having dinner outside, I suddenly remember my toilet run in the middle of eating and told my #2, “You know hor…eating vegetarian meals makes my shits don’t stink. You should try it. I mean vege fasting, not my shits.”

Officially, Chinese New Year is over for me. Enough of cookies, gassy drinks and food.
