rice dumpling/karn sui chung
Sticky rice or glutinous rice soaked with ash or alkali water (edible) and then, wrapped with bamboo leaves and boiled. The rice get its yellow colour from the alkali water. Sometimes, some people stuffed red bean paste in it. This dumpling is served during the Dragon Boat Race or the fifth day of the fifth lunar month.
